|2012 Audi S4 Review| The A4 is available as a 4-door sedan or as a 5-door station wagon, dubbed the Avant. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 211 horsepower and 258 ft-lb of torque. A new 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission are available on quattro models, while front-drive models receive a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard equipment. Audi claims the new compact 8-speed is smoother and more precise than the outgoing 6-speed auto while returning better fuel economy.The sporty-stylish S4 comes as a sedan or an Avant wagon, each powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that puts out 333 hp, delivered to all four wheels via either a 6-speed manual or the 7-speed S tronic transmission. The S tronic transmission features blistering quick shifts via twin clutches and controlled by paddles on either side of the steering wheel.
